FIRST FLOOD OF 2014: AFTERMATH – BEAUTIFUL MORNING AFTER

IMG_1206

Our footbridge has survived intact!

What a difference a day makes! Actually, it has been less than 24 hours since I posted those pictures and videos of the rushing Namaka Creek (see First Flood of 2014, Parts 1 and 2, Jan 29). Yet the two days could not be more different.

The Rainbow Shower awakened this morning to a perfect sunshine. Everything was sparkling. And yesterdays’s wild and woolly creek has become a pussycat, gently trickling down the gulch, chirping like a bird.

Even our footbridge has survived. You saw how it was completely submerged in surging floodwaters when we last saw it yesterday afternoon (left). Take a look at the same scene this morning.

The same was true elsewhere. Here are the “then and now” pictures of Elizabeth’s garden on the Palm Island (above).

And above is the view of the Palm Island from the bridge across Namaka Creek (above), also “then and now.”

And now, check out the video and the rest of the still shots I took this morning…
