VIENNA AIRPORT CONCERT, SUBLIME DINNER IN BARCELONA

While Elizabeth was doing some duty free shopping, I decided to give an impromptu Mozart and Schubert concert at the Vienna airport. When Elizabeth returned, she took these pictures. They look like the concert took place at a Hollywood set, don’t they?

What I did not realize at the time was that this piano had a microphone attached to it. So my music was evidently being broadcast presumably throughout the airport. Elizabeth said she had heard it in a shop whose owner stepped out to see who was playing.

“That’s my husband playing,” Elizabeth said she had told the lady.

Which would also explain why some people came over to take pictures and videos of me while I was playing.

I played my favorite Mozart and Schubert pieced for about 20 minutes. It was a fitting farewell to the Music Capital of the world, and to my old friend Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

SUBLIME BARCELONA DINNER

When we left Vienna, the weather was absolutely perfect. It was the first sunny day we have after six days in the Austrian capital. But when we got to Barcelona, we were back to the same old – mist, rain, fog… even an occasional thunderbolt.

Nevertheless, that did not prevent us from finding our way to our hotel in the center of the second largest city in Spain without a map or any prior directions. Nor were we deterred from discovering a secluded restaurant our hotel staff recommended – Brasserie Flo – that ended up being one of the most delightful and sublime dining experiences we have ever had anywhere in the world.

Take a look at the two of us at the end of the dinner, but before the dessert course of Flambe Crepes Suzette.

A picture of happiness, wouldn’t you say? 🙂 And that’s from the two generally non-drinkers.

Well, folks, that’s what Spain does to you. And we have just begun to experience it. Rain or shine, we are looking forward to rediscovering our mutual ancestral home from way back.
