33 MILE-MARATHON BIKE-HIKE-BIKE DEDICATED TO VETERANS AND PEACE
I don’t know why, but I felt I had to do something momentous and memorable on this Veterans Day 2014. I ended up biking and hiking a marathon and one-third (33 miles, 53 km). I dedicated it to peace and the veterans world over – fallen or living.
It took 3:45 hrs overall, including several breaks for water, photo-ops and to enjoy the views. At the end, I rewarded myself with a yummy frozen yogurt. 🙂
When I returned home, i realized that exactly one year and 11 days ago, on Halloween 2013, I did another marathon and one-third like this – from Eagle’s Nest in North Scottsdale to Camelback Mtn and back (see the maps).
That one was also on a Masters #11-day (10-31-2013). Except that today is a triple #11-day (11-11-2014), and thus that much more significant, spiritually.
During a brief ceremony to honor the veterans world over, I asked the Creator to eradicate all warrior energies from the Earth, and to escort off the planet all those who spread hate and wage wars, starting with our own warmongers in Washington and New York.
Interestingly, as I was doing it, I realized that the music playing in my ears at that moment was Rimsky-Korsakov’s opera “Le coq d’or” (Golden Cockerel). It’s a dramatic operatic piece. Kind of like my 1997 “Dancing ‘round the Golden Calf” Washington Times prose (column), set to music.
The political situation in Russia at the time (1905) inspired Rimsky-Korsakov to take up the pen to compose a “razor-sharp satire of the autocracy, of Russian imperialism, and of the Russo-Japanese war.”
Parallels with American imperialism today are unmistakable. It’s just that the shoe is on the other foot. And we are warmongering against Russia.
Rimsky-Korsakov started work on his Golden Cockerel opera in 1905. It was finished in 1907. The opera was immediately banned by the Imperial Palace. Rimsky-Korsakov’s health was probably affected by this, and he was dead by the time it was performed two years later.
I was unaware of that while doing my Veterans Day marathon. I only discovered the foregoing while doing research for this story later in the day. The Spirit guides evidently exactly what they were doing when they synched my Peace Prayer with the playing of this dramatic music.
And now here are some more pictures from today’s marathon…
