MANGO, AVOCADO TREES WELCOME US HOME WITH RESPLENDENT BLOSSOMS

What a delightful surprise we had upon returning home from Australia. Two trees which I planted in 2009 welcomed us home with their first resplendent blossom.

I planted the Mango in Nov 2009 on the slopes of the newly built Orchard road. This is its first bloom.

The story of the Avocado is more intricate. This is its third incarnation.

We were given it in a small pot in Apr 2009 as a housewarming gift by our next door neighbor. I planted it at the top of the Orchard road hoping we could see it from our house. It died.

But I was not ready to accept its death as final. So dug up the roots and transplanted it to a small hill down in the gulch, near the Anahata-Huaca-Ahu, the sacred place of the Rainbow Shower. It died again a few months later.

Once again, I refused to accept it. So I moved the roots to another hill farther to the north, roughly at the same elevation. The Avocado liked it there. It has been growing by leaps and bounds ever since. But until now, it has only produced one single fruit. That was last summer.

Now, it looks like we are going to have a bumper crop of both Avocados and Mangos. Thank you, Pachamama (Mother Earth) and the plant Spirits!
