DAY 28, JUNE 21: RETURN TO SAINT PETER’S, VISIT TO SAINT STEPHEN’S AND MOZART’S APARTMENT, ELIZABETH’S PRIVATE FASHION SHOW

Vienna, Austria

Epilogue from grand June 20 concert at Saint Peter’s church

RETURN TO SAINT PETER’S, VISIT TO SAINT STEPHEN’S AND MOZART’S APARTMENT

Today, our last full day in Vienna, we went back to the center of Vienna for last minute visits to places we have seen and liked and some that were new to us.

Our first stop was the magnificent St Pete’s church where we attended last night’s exquisite string quartet concert. After we both said short prayers – me for the wonderful guidance and protection of our spirit guides – we continued on to the apartment where Mozart lived between 1784 and 1787,

I have walked these narrow streets of Old Vienna for decades but have never known to stop and visit this place where Mozart composed many of his most famous works. Until today.

We also visited St Stephen’s Cathedral, the most famous of Vienna’s many beautiful churches. We had been there before, but not on this trip. The place was always teaming with tourists. Unlike St Peter’s which does not allow tourists or tour groups, St Stephen’s welcomes them. Today, however, the crowds were light. Perhaps because of extreme heat for Vienna? (95F; 35C).

PRIVATE FASHION SHOW FOR ELIZABETH, WONDERFUL 19th CENTURY ARCADE, CIRCUS IN THE CENTER OF VIENNA

As we walked toward the place in Old Vienna where we normally flag a taxi for a ride to our country inn – home in a Vienna suburb, I noticed a store with some pretty dresses. Of course, Elizabeth could not pass up the opportunity to check it out.
It turns out they were all handmade light summer dresses. While she was trying them out, the lady-owner of the shop offered me a cool place under a sky light in the middle of the store and some drinks.
In the end, Elizabeth did not buy anything. But she had fun having a private fashion show. We both apologized to the lady for not buying anything. Even though the dresses were pretty, they were just too big and baggy for Elizabeth.
We then walked into a beautiful 19th century arcade – a European precursor of the American indoor malls. With one big difference. This European arcade was a work of art. Even the marble staircase has been carved and made to look like a sculpture. The American malls are designed only for spending money and entertainment for teenagers and kids.
And then just outside, we spotted a circus being set up in a square we had walked through just the other day.
“I have not seen an honest to goodness circus in decades,” I said.

And that’s all she wrote from this trip to Europe. Bye!

UPDATE JULY 17, 2017

WHAT IS THIS TUNE?

Can somebody please help me identify this tune? I know it’s Chopin, and it’s a waltz, but what is its name and key?

I would like to record it but want to do it in the original key. Thank you.

Chopin3
